On May 26, Councillor Chernushenko’s office provided an update with respect to a resident’s complaint of speeding vehicles on Third Avenue.

In response to the complaint, City staff installed Automatic Traffic Records on Third to measure vehicle speeds between Bank and O’Connor. The device was installed for a 48 hour period on May 10 – May 11, 2016.  The operating speed, also referred to as the 85th Percentile Speed was 44km/h.

Based on the collected data, the compliance to the 40km/h speed limit is very high. The City suggests that residents report speeding to the police by calling 613-236-1222 x7300 when they witness speeding. They can also report speeding online at the following link: http://www.ottawapolice.ca/en/contact-us/Online-Reporting.asp.  The more calls the Police receive, the more resources they can provide to patrol the area.
