Health, Housing and Social Services Committee

The Health, Housing and Social Services Committee is a merger between the former Health and Social Services Committee and the Tenants’ Committee. Currently the committee is operating within the two approved mandates of its previous committees. You can find the mandates here.

Mandate (Approved at the February 2016 GCA Board Meeting)

Health and Social Services Committee Mandate (Approved at the February 2016 GCA Board Meeting)

The Health and Social Services Committee identifies and responds to health and social services issues within the Glebe community and draws issues to the attention of the GCA for possible attention, as needed. The Health and Social Services Committee also represents the GCA on health and social services issues with other organizations.

Tenants’ Committee Mandate
The Tenants’ committee exists to engage and represent Glebe tenants’ at every level of the GCA. We are seeking to provide tenants resources regarding tenancy and promote a livable, sustainable neighbourhood for tenants of all socio-economic demographics.

Membership

Membership on the Health, Housing and Social Services Committee is open to all interested community members! The effectiveness of this Committee is heavily dependent on volunteer support and if you can assist in any way, or require help with planning issues, please drop a line to health@glebeca.ca.

Meetings

Meeting Process: Meetings of the Health, Housing and Social Services Committee will be convened by the Chair. The Chair will take responsibility for booking a meeting location, developing and sending the agenda and action items/minutes from the previous meeting. Minutes will be taken by committee members on a rotating basis.

Meeting Frequency: Meetings will be held monthly on either the first or second Tuesday from 7:00-8:30pm. Timing would be planned to ensure meetings were held in advance of the Glebe Community Association meetings, which are held on the third Tuesday of the month.

Meeting Location: Meeting locations are set by the chair and sent out to committee members in advance of the meeting.

Interface with the GCA

It is the responsibility of the Chair to serve as the committee’s representative to and liaison with the GCA Board. As a full member of the GCA Board, the Chair can vote and will bring forward motions on behalf of the Health and Social Services Committee to the Board for vote.

UPDATED: In response to community concerns, a resource/poster on “Who to Call” has been jointly developed by the GCA, BIA and GNAG:
