Like all North American cities, Ottawa continues to face a shortage of social housing solutions for the population’s unhoused, many of whom find themselves without shelter due to other, underlying health issues. The GCA Parks Committee continues to monitor this issue, calling for the city to designate a supervised, safe, green, tented (or otherwise), clean public space not currently in use as a city park for people in need of a housing solution not yet available to them, and an outdoor place to be during the day.
