The speed limit on a number of residential streets in the Glebe and Old Ottawa South could soon drop from 40 km/h to 30 km/h, if Ottawa City Council approves a recommendation from the Transportation Committee, which approved the following motion from Councillor Shawn Menard on Sept. 4:

Glebe and Old Ottawa South — Residential Area Speed Reduction:
That the Transportation Committee recommend to Council that the speed limit be lowered to 30 km/h through the implementation of 30 km/h Gateway Speed Limit Signs within residential areas bound by: a) Bank Street to the East, Bronson Avenue to the West, Chamberlain Avenue to the North and Queen Elizabeth Driveway to the South; and b) Bank Street to the East, Bronson Avenue to the West, Colonel By Drive to the North and the Rideau River to the South.
