Major changes ahead for Lansdowne?
The City of Ottawa has just released a report proposing major changes for Lansdowne. The proposals include demolishing the Civic Centre arena and the north side stands of the stadium and replacing them with brand new facilities. Housing may be constructed on on top of the sports facility—probably in the form of a mid-or-high rise tower.
The report will be considered by the City of Ottawa’s Finance and Economic Development Committee (FEDCO) on Tuesday, July 6 and go to Council later in July. If approved, it will establish a new strategic direction for Lansdowne and kick-off about six more months of detailed study/negotiation and public consultation.
